Imagine the scene: It’s 7am on a Sunday morning, you’re eating oats and yoghurt, and you’re excited to go explore a city with your friends.
Little did you know the temperature will be around around 5ºC, one of your friends will destroy her feet from walking so much, and you’ll have to skip going to visit the Magic Gardens because you can’t justify paying $8 to be cold and wet to look at some art.
Describing the day like that makes it seem like it was a terrible time. However, despite the cold and missing out on a great photography opportunity, it was my favourite Sunday of my year abroad. We explored the Eastern State Penitentiary, visited the Liberty Bell, and walked so much that I got to fulfil my love of urban photography.
